Welcome to Belletristic Therapy, an online and face-to-face person-centred therapy service that provides help and support for individuals just like you.

You maybe feeling a little lost at the moment with your compass spinning in all directions which seems confusing and directionless. If this is an experience you have at this time, then I would like to talk to you to see if we can work together in helping you to rediscover your own direction.

My name is Stephen and I am a person centred counsellor who has experienced all that being directionless may mean. Angry, confused, disillusioned with life and people too, to the point where I wanted to give up. My experience of life has included trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship troubles, bereavement, which at times has been incredibly difficult until I sought the help that I needed.

It hasn't been easy but it has helped me to find peace in a somewhat difficult world. Please take some time to have a look through my site and if you feel as though you would benefit from some further information before you decide what you want to do, then please contact me when you feel comfortable to do so.

What happens at a session?

Free 20 min call

Click on the contact below which will provide a form for you to complete that will ask for some basic details and when you would be available for me to contact you. The call is free and there is absolutely no obligation for you to use my service.

During this initial phone call, we will have a chat about your current situation and what you want from therapy. I will also provide details of who I am so we can understand if we are a good fit for therapy.

PLEASE NOTE: It is advisable for us to have a free call before you decide to book sessions with me as it will give us the opportunity to decide if we are compatible to be able to work together before committing to a series of sessions.

Online Counselling

Zoom, Teams, Google Meet among others, are ways that you can see your counsellor face-to face from your computer while engaging in therapy. Google Meet is the platform used for your sessions. Each session will be approximately 50 minutes in length. Being able to see your counsellor gives you more of the benefits you get from face-to face counselling but with the convenience of online therapy. By talking, the counsellor will hear your tone of voice (which is a way to convey empathy); and with video, see non-verbal communications such as facial expressions and visable emotions.

Face-to-Face Counselling

One of the most important aspects of therapy can be the relationship you build with the therapist. To facilitate this, I offer a safe and confidential space where we can work together to help you understand your current difficulties through a face-to-face setting. This allows a strong working relationship to form and provides the opportunity for you to discuss your thoughts and feelings confidently and without distraction. Within this setting, the observation of non-verbal communication is an important aspect of the session as it provides an indication of what you could be feeling which would help our interaction, highlighting areas where we could explore further.
